The Head of State, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, welcomed the Mayor of Libreville, Eugène Mba, yesterday at the Palais Rénovation. This was their second meeting since their initial discussion on April 28, aimed at closely monitoring local governance, evaluating municipal performance, and strengthening state-local authority coordination.
During the session, the Mayor presented a comprehensive progress report on his agenda since assuming office on April 24. He also outlined the newly restructured organizational framework of Libreville’s city hall. Key topics included transformative urban projects such as modernizing public spaces, developing green and botanical areas, combating illegal public land occupation, enhancing neighborhood infrastructure, and advancing municipal digitalization.
The President emphasized the critical need to accelerate urban cleanliness initiatives, highlighting sanitation as a top priority. He underscored the importance of improving household waste collection systems to uphold public health standards.
Reaffirming his commitment to a forward-looking Gabon, the President stressed that Libreville, as the nation’s showcase, must set an international benchmark in urban planning, local governance, and public service excellence. He urged Eugène Mba to lead with unwavering rigor, creative problem-solving, and operational efficiency to ensure the successful implementation of ongoing initiatives.
