The upcoming training center will offer hands-on instruction in core competencies essential for port operations. This includes the operation and maintenance of heavy lifting equipment, vehicle handling, safety protocols, compliance documentation, and digital system management. The center will function as a dedicated practical space to develop these in-demand skills, positioning Benin’s Port of Cotonou as a regional leader in port logistics education.
Strong partners behind the initiative
The agreement was officially signed by Hugues-Oscar Lokossou, Benin’s Minister of Economy and Finance, and Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg. It reflects a strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the two nations, with the CAP-PORT program accounting for nearly 16% of the current active portfolio of around €95 million dedicated to development cooperation.
