The high-level military delegation from Morocco, led by Army Corps General Mohammed Berrid—Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone—concluded a productive two-day visit to Mauritania on Tuesday.
General Berrid was granted an audience with Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott. The meeting took place in the presence of Morocco’s Ambassador to Mauritania, Hamid Chabar, as confirmed by a statement from the Moroccan General Staff.
Later that same day, General Berrid visited the Mauritanian Ministry of Defense, where he held strategic discussions with Defense Minister Hanana Ould Sidi. In a symbolic gesture, the Mauritanian Defense Minister presented General Berrid with the National Order of Merit, Commander grade, on behalf of the Mauritanian Head of State.
The Moroccan military delegation then joined their Mauritanian counterparts to co-chair the sixth session of the Joint Military Commission. During the deliberations, senior military officials from both nations reviewed the progress of bilateral defense cooperation, highlighting the tangible achievements that underscore the deepening strategic partnership between Morocco and Mauritania.
The discussions reflected mutual satisfaction with the outcomes of this cooperation, which has become a benchmark for military collaboration in the region.
