Morocco’s humanitarian commitment highlighted at African Union’s Peace and Security Council

Morocco has elevated humanitarian action to a central pillar of its foreign policy and African cooperation, as outlined by the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, declared the country’s Permanent Representative to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Mohamed Arrouchi, during a recent public session of the African Union’s Peace and Security Council (PSC).

The Ambassador emphasized that under the guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who serves as the AU Champion on migration, Morocco has consistently prioritized humanitarian efforts within its diplomatic engagements and development partnerships across Africa. This commitment reflects the Kingdom’s unwavering dedication to mitigating humanitarian crises wherever they arise on the continent.

Humanitarian action as a cornerstone of Morocco’s African strategy

Speaking at the PSC’s special meeting on refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and humanitarian aid in Africa, Mr. Arrouchi underscored Morocco’s proactive role in addressing displacement and emergency relief. The session provided a platform for African nations to assess progress and strengthen collaborative responses to pressing humanitarian challenges.

Morocco’s approach is rooted in a deep sense of solidarity with African nations grappling with conflict, displacement, and natural disasters. By integrating humanitarian principles into its foreign policy framework, the Kingdom has positioned itself as a key player in fostering stability and resilience across the continent.
