The Kingdom of Morocco has officially signed the agreement governing its participation in the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza, following the high directives of King Mohammed VI. As Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Chair of the Al-Quds Committee, the monarch underscored the nation’s unwavering commitment to peace and stability in the region.

The signing ceremony took place in Rabat, chaired by Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and Minister Delegate for National Defense Administration Abdeltif Loudyi. High-ranking military officials from Morocco were present, alongside a delegation led by Nickolay Mladenov, the UN Special Coordinator for Gaza.

Humanitarian and security commitments at the heart of Morocco’s involvement

According to a statement from the National Defense Administration, this agreement formalizes Morocco’s role as a founding member of the Gaza Peace Council, in line with the royal vision announced during the council’s inaugural meeting in Washington. The Moroccan authorities emphasized the Kingdom’s dedication to international peace, cooperation, and solidarity, highlighting the FAR’s extensive experience in UN peacekeeping operations.

Representatives of the Gaza Peace Council commended Morocco’s significant contribution, which includes the deployment of senior FAR officers within the ISF joint command structure. The Moroccan contingent will also feature personnel from the Royal Gendarmerie and the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), alongside the establishment of a field military hospital.

The signed agreement establishes the legal framework for the technical and operational aspects of Morocco’s participation, reflecting a shared determination to restore peace and security in Gaza through humanitarian and security initiatives.
