Abidjan, July 2026 — Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello, who ran in the October 2025 presidential election, and his closest allies have taken a decisive step in their political journey by initiating the creation of a new political party. The announcement follows a plenary session held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, in Abidjan, as outlined in a formal statement.
During the gathering, attended by supporters and members of Mr. Don-Mello’s presidential campaign committee, participants overwhelmingly adopted a resolution to establish a new political formation. This decision comes after thorough deliberations by a dedicated reflection committee tasked with evaluating the future organizational structure of the movement.
The committee’s findings, presented to the assembly, strongly advocated for the formation of a political party to solidify and sustain the momentum built during the presidential campaign. Consequently, Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello was entrusted with leading the establishment process and organizing the upcoming “Congress of Pioneers,” which will serve as the foundational event for the new party.
The initiative marks the transition of the former campaign team into a structured political organization committed to fostering dialogue, unity, and change. The future party will champion core values including democracy, social justice, good governance, solidarity, meritocracy, and national sovereignty, positioning itself as a forward-thinking alternative in Côte d’Ivoire’s political landscape.
Following the assembly, Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello expressed gratitude to the participants for their unwavering support and outlined the key priorities of the project. He also extended a call to all patriotic, progressive, democratic, and sovereigntist forces to join the movement, emphasizing the shared vision of a more equitable, prosperous, united, and fully sovereign Côte d’Ivoire.
According to the statement, preparatory work for the Congress of Pioneers will commence immediately, with the official date to be announced in due course.
It is worth noting that Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello was previously the vice-president of the Parti des Peuples Africains-Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI) before his removal from the party. He ran as an independent candidate in the October 2025 presidential election.
