With less than three weeks remaining before its first-ever national congress, the leadership of Pastef gathered at the Keur Gorgui residence of party leader Ousmane Sonko to outline a sweeping structural overhaul. Key figures including El Malick Ndiaye, Birame Souleye Diop, Yassine Fall, Daouda Ngom, and Ayib Daffé attended the strategic session.

The agenda was entirely focused on the logistical and political preparations for the landmark event, scheduled for June 6, 2026. While the venue remains undecided, Diamniadio has emerged as a potential host city, according to insiders present at the meeting.

Sonko’s unwavering commitment to success

Ousmane Sonko made it clear that the congress is his top priority. His message to his closest allies was unequivocal: “The congress must succeed, and we must revitalize the party.” Beyond mere logistics, Sonko emphasized the urgent need to restructure Pastef for greater clarity and cohesion. The gathering also underscored the importance of reconnecting with supporters nationwide, including in remote areas.

Following the discussions, El Malick Ndiaye, Pastef’s Assembly President, shared a message on social media, highlighting “a future brimming with hope, progress, and sovereignty.” He stressed that the party’s collective vision would continue to be built with unwavering faith, discipline, and dedication.
