Amid heightened political divisions gripping Senegal, a prominent spiritual figure has stepped into the fray, urging national cohesion as the country grapples with pressing economic and social challenges. Speaking during the Grand Magal of Touba, Serigne Modou Kara Mbacké, a respected marabout based in Mermoz, delivered a powerful message of reconciliation aimed at two of the nation’s top leaders.
The religious leader, addressing a gathering of devoted followers, emphasized that the moment calls for unity rather than personal grievances. « Their reconciliation is not out of the question because they represent a minority compared to the broader population. For the sake of the country, they must come together, » he declared. Serigne Modou Kara Mbacké stressed that the nation’s priorities—economic recovery and social stability—must take precedence over political disputes.
