sawti: a multilingual platform to simplify access to political news

sawti platform interface

sawti, a free digital platform launched by two Moroccan entrepreneurs, is transforming how citizens access and understand political information. Designed to bridge gaps in communication, this initiative aims to make national political processes transparent and accessible to all, whether they live in Morocco or abroad.

The platform was created by Ismaïl Lahlou and Yassine Lahlou Kamal, two young visionaries committed to promoting informed citizenship through reliable, easy-to-understand content. By offering clear explanations of political mechanisms, institutions, and electoral processes, sawti empowers users to engage more meaningfully with the nation’s democratic life.

What sets sawti apart is its multilingual accessibility. The platform is currently available in nine languages, including Darija, Modern Standard Arabic, French, English, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, and German. A Berber (Tamazight) version is also in development, reflecting the platform’s inclusive approach. The clean, intuitive interface ensures seamless navigation, allowing users to explore content without barriers.

Among its standout features, sawti provides quick tools to verify voter registration status or complete online registration—a crucial service as the deadline for submissions approaches. With the registration window closing on June 13, the platform offers a fast, reliable way for citizens to confirm their eligibility and participate in upcoming elections.

For Moroccans living abroad, sawti offers dedicated guidance on voting procedures from overseas, ensuring no one is left behind in the democratic process. Looking ahead, the platform plans to introduce an interactive quiz to help users assess their political alignment based on their values and views on key societal issues.

Available online at www.sawti.info, this initiative represents a significant step forward in modernizing political communication and fostering a more engaged citizenry in Morocco.
