Mokhtar Bousso, spokesperson for the collective, emphasized that Sonko’s statements represent a profound disrespect toward Touba and its spiritual founder, Serigne Touba Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba. In a radio interview, he declared, ‘Anyone who disputes Serigne Touba’s legacy must never set foot in Touba. Had he truly respected the teachings of Serigne Touba, these remarks would never have been uttered.’
The collective underscores the city’s historic contributions to Senegal’s economic, social, and spiritual growth. ‘Touba has been a cornerstone of national development. Sonko’s accusations demand accountability—especially regarding the sanctity of our spiritual leader,’ Bousso stated.

The spokesperson urged Sonko to reconsider his presence in Touba. ‘He must ask himself whether he deserves to return after such accusations. If he believes illicit funds circulate here, his place is elsewhere,’ he concluded.
