Maimouna Sène, a key figure in the Alliance Pour la République (APR) executive secretariat, has taken a firm stance against Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, challenging him to present tangible evidence in court rather than relying on public declarations.

In a strongly worded statement, the former lawmaker accused the government of veering toward judicial populism and warned against misusing accountability as a political tool. She emphasized that transparency should be a cornerstone of governance, not a fleeting rhetorical strategy.

Accountability must go beyond political rhetoric

Maimouna Sène’s remarks come amid growing public frustration over economic hardships, including soaring inflation and limited job opportunities. She insisted that the government’s focus should shift from rhetoric to concrete solutions, particularly in addressing rising living costs and reviving economic activity.

« If you have evidence, present it in court and let the judiciary do its work without interference,» she told Ousmane Sonko, urging him to prioritize actions over statements.

Call for exemplary leadership

The APR leader also stressed the importance of integrity in public service, urging the Prime Minister to lead by example and ensure that governance remains transparent and accountable to the people of Sénégal.
