The President of the National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, conveyed his heartfelt condolences following the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the esteemed Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
In a Facebook post, he honored the religious leader’s legacy and extended his deepest sympathies to the family, the General Khalife of the Mourides, and the people of Sénégal.
« I received the news of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké’s passing with profound sorrow and deep emotion, » Sonko wrote. « As Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family, he was a pillar of spiritual guidance and moral strength. »
The President of the National Assembly also reflected on his personal encounters with the late leader during visits to Guinguinéo. « On multiple occasions, I had the honor of meeting Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, » he shared. « His warmth, hospitality, and unwavering kindness left an indelible mark on me and all who knew him. »
In this time of mourning, Sonko offered his « most sincere condolences » to the bereaved family, the Mouride community, the people of Guinguinéo, and the entire nation of Sénégal. He concluded with a prayer: « May Allah, in His boundless mercy, grant him forgiveness and welcome him into His eternal paradise. »
