The President of the National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, conveyed his profound grief following the demise of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the esteemed Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, which occurred on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

Through a statement shared on Facebook, Sonko paid homage to the memory of the revered spiritual leader. He extended his heartfelt sympathies to Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké’s family, the General Khalife of the Mourides, and the entire Senegalese nation.

“It is with immense emotion and deep sorrow that I received the news of the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family of Guinguinéo,” Ousmane Sonko wrote, reflecting on the significant loss.

The President of the National Assembly also recalled his personal interactions with the late guide during his visits to Guinguinéo.

“I was privileged to meet the venerable religious figure on numerous occasions throughout my trips to Guinguinéo. In each of these encounters, he consistently showed us exceptional warmth, a gracious welcome, and a benevolence that left a lasting impression on us,” he recounted.

During this period of immense grief, Ousmane Sonko offered his “most sincere condolences” to the bereaved family, the General Khalife of the Mourides, the religious community of Guinguinéo, and all citizens of Sénégal.

He concluded his message with a prayer: “May Allah, in His boundless mercy, grant him His forgiveness and welcome him into His eternal Paradise.”
