At the opening of the second Gabon Economic Forum (GEF) held at the Palais des Congrès, the leadership of the Fédération des entreprises du Gabon (FEG) shared a bold vision for the future. Alain Claude Kouakoua, the federation’s president, expressed his desire for the FEG to be recognized as a primary driver of corporate success across the nation.
This gathering has become a crucial bridge between global partners and local decision-makers, specifically designed to address the unique economic challenges facing the country. During his address, the FEG president highlighted that robust enterprises are the essential engine of national growth, rather than mere peripheral entities.
Government commitment to the private sector
The Vice President of the Republic, Hugues Alexandre Barro Chambrier, reinforced the state’s dedication to supporting the business community. He assured attendees that the government is focused on stabilizing public finances, which will facilitate the timely settlement of outstanding obligations to private firms.
The overarching goal of the forum is to foster a more resilient and industrialised economy. By shifting focus away from a reliance on raw materials, the initiative seeks to build a more diverse economic landscape through sustained public-private dialogue.
