Ahmat Bedei Toullomi, the president of the Borkou Provincial Council, was apprehended Thursday late afternoon in N’Djamena and taken to the General Coordination of the Judicial Police, according to security sources.
The arrest occurred inside the premises of Hotel La Résidence, just before 5 p.m. It follows a legal complaint filed for defamation and public insults.
Documents obtained by our team reveal that the complaint was lodged by Goudje Gueillet Hemchi and Kodou Omari, who accuse Ahmat Bedei Toullomi of publishing damaging claims on social media. Among these allegations, he accused them of involvement in a cocaine trafficking ring operating in Tchad.
The complainants vehemently deny these accusations, calling them “completely false, baseless, and slanderous,” arguing that such statements have severely damaged their reputation and standing in the community.
Legal proceedings and prior summons
An arrest warrant against Ahmat Bedei Toullomi was issued on August 4, 2026, by the prosecutor’s office at the N’Djamena Court of First Instance, requiring him to appear and address the allegations leveled against him.
Investigations indicate that the provincial council president had been summoned multiple times previously but failed to respond. After more than ten days of unanswered summons, law enforcement proceeded with his arrest to ensure his appearance before the appropriate authorities for questioning.
Minutes after his apprehension, a statement was posted on his Facebook page at 5:10 p.m.: “Either the nation stands together with the Marshal, or the traffickers are stronger than the law. I have been abducted.”
At this stage, the arrest remains a procedural action within the framework of an ongoing legal investigation.
