The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Vocational Training recently convened a pivotal national workshop in N’Djamena to scrutinize and endorse a groundbreaking diagnostic report. This report lays the foundation for the country’s forthcoming National Strategy for Digital Transformation in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), marking a decisive leap toward modernizing the educational landscape.
Held on July 10, 2026, the event brought together key stakeholders from across the sector to evaluate and refine a document derived from extensive field research. The analysis spanned over 57 Technical and Vocational Training Centers (CFTP) nationwide, engaging more than 200 respondents through both in-person assessments and digital surveys. This comprehensive approach ensures that the insights reflect the diverse realities of the country’s educational ecosystem.
The initiative aligns with the Pan-African Initiative for Digital Transformation in TVET, supported by major continental and international bodies including UNESCO, the African Union, and the African Development Bank. The goal is clear: to equip Chad’s vocational training system with sustainable, future-ready digital infrastructure capable of meeting the demands of a rapidly evolving job market.
Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization, opened the session by underscoring the strategic importance of digital transformation. He emphasized that the government views digitalization as a cornerstone for aligning vocational education with technological advancements and emerging career pathways. The diagnostic report, he noted, highlights both significant progress and critical hurdles—such as governance gaps, connectivity issues, energy constraints, and the need for upskilling educators in digital competencies. Gabriel urged participants to contribute their expertise to shape a strategy that is pragmatic, inclusive, and deeply rooted in Chad’s unique context.
Following the workshop, the validated report will serve as the blueprint for the 2026-2030 National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET. This ambitious plan aims to overhaul the national training system, ensuring it is agile, high-performing, and responsive to the needs of both learners and employers. With this roadmap in place, Chad is poised to bridge the digital divide in education and equip its workforce for the challenges of tomorrow.
