The city of N’Djamena is hosting the fifth tripartite forum bringing together Chad, Cameroon and the Central African Republic to address key challenges in regional transit and trade. This high-level meeting, now underway, brings together customs officials, port authorities and economic operators from the three nations.

The opening ceremony was led by Chad’s Minister of Transport, Civil Aviation and National Meteorology, Fatime Goukouni Weddeye, with the participation of high-ranking customs officials including the Director General of Customs and Indirect Taxes, Major General Ousman Brahim Djouma.

objectives of the forum

During this crucial gathering, participants are reviewing the obstacles hindering smooth goods movement along the trans-Cameroon corridor. The shared goal is to streamline transit procedures, enhance customs cooperation and revitalize trade exchanges across the subregion.

key focus areas

  • streamlining transit procedures to reduce delays and costs for cross-border traders
  • strengthening customs cooperation to combat fraud and improve clearance efficiency
  • boosting subregional trade through coordinated policies and infrastructure development

The outcomes of this forum are expected to have far-reaching implications for economic integration and trade facilitation in Central Africa, particularly for landlocked countries like Chad that rely heavily on transit routes through neighboring nations.
