World Vision Chad unveils bold 2030 strategy for children’s future

World Vision Chad has launched its new five-year strategic plan, setting ambitious targets to transform the lives of 3.29 million children by 2030. The initiative combines emergency relief, sustainable development and peacebuilding efforts to create lasting change across the country.

A new vision for Chad’s children

During a high-profile press conference in N’Djamena, World Vision Chad introduced its strategic roadmap for 2026-2030. The plan targets 3.29 million children, including 3.09 million from the most vulnerable communities, through enhanced interventions in health, nutrition, education, child protection and climate resilience.

The launch event brought together media representatives, technical and financial partners, and national authorities at the N’Djamena Residence Hotel. World Vision’s regional director for West Africa, Carla Dominique Denizard, described the strategy as “bold and innovative,” highlighting its foundation on the “Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus” approach. This methodology bridges emergency response with sustainable development and peacebuilding initiatives.

Addressing regional challenges through integrated solutions

Denizard emphasized that children in Chad deserve opportunities to thrive, not just survive. She noted that the strategy aligns with continental and international frameworks, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13 and 16). The plan prioritizes human capital development, social protection, climate adaptation, and enhanced education through the Unlock Literacy program.

World Vision Chad’s national director, Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, called the launch a “historic moment” for the organization and the nation’s children. He revealed that the new strategy represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles, with a clear goal: ensuring every child in Chad can not only survive but flourish. “Our vision is simple yet profound: to reach 3.29 million children by 2030, with special focus on the most vulnerable,” Wangoy stated.

Tackling persistent challenges with renewed vigor

The director outlined critical challenges facing Chad, including persistent poverty, malnutrition, recurring humanitarian crises, and climate change impacts. With nearly 42% of the population living below the poverty line, the need for intensified support for vulnerable groups is urgent.

The 2026-2030 strategy focuses on four key areas:

• Integrated health and nutrition: Prioritizing maternal and child health to combat malnutrition and improve overall well-being.
• Education for all: Expanding the Unlock Literacy program to build foundational reading skills from early childhood.
• Child protection: Shielding children from all forms of violence and exploitation.
• Climate resilience: Strengthening community adaptation to climate shocks and environmental stresses.

A call for collective action

Following the strategy’s unveiling, World Vision Chad’s leadership urged all national stakeholders to collaborate. They appealed to government authorities, technical and financial partners, civil society organizations, religious and community leaders, and media outlets to unite in supporting this ambitious plan. “Transforming current challenges into sustainable opportunities for Chad’s children requires collective effort,” the team emphasized. Through this strategy, World Vision Chad aims to contribute significantly to the country’s Vision 2030 and the global Sustainable Development Goals, creating a future where every child is protected, nourished, educated, and empowered to reach their full potential.
