World Vision Chad outlines bold 2030 plan for children’s futures

N’Djamena – World Vision Chad has unveiled its ambitious five-year strategy to transform the lives of 3.29 million children by 2030, with a special focus on reaching 3.09 million of the most vulnerable.

During a high-profile launch event in N’Djamena, the organization presented a comprehensive roadmap combining humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding initiatives. The strategy targets critical areas including health, nutrition, education, child protection, and climate resilience, reflecting a holistic approach to addressing Chad’s most pressing challenges.

A transformative approach to child welfare

The launch event brought together government officials, technical partners, financial backers, and media representatives to discuss the strategy’s implementation. Carla Dominique Denizard, World Vision’s Regional Director for West Africa, described the initiative as “bold and innovative,” emphasizing its Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus approach. This methodology bridges emergency interventions with long-term development and peacebuilding efforts to create lasting change.

“Every child in Chad deserves the opportunity to thrive, not just survive,” Denizard stated. She highlighted the organization’s commitment to addressing regional challenges such as insecurity, multidimensional poverty, climate change impacts, and mass displacement through integrated solutions.

Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Chad, called the launch a “historic moment” for the country’s children. He noted that the strategy represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles, with a clear goal: ensuring that every child in Chad can not only survive but flourish.

Strategic priorities for a brighter future

The 2026-2030 strategy focuses on several key pillars:

• Nutrition and health: Strengthening integrated health systems with special attention to maternal and child health.
• Education: Expanding the Unlock Literacy program to enhance early reading skills.
• Child protection: Safeguarding children from all forms of violence and exploitation.
• Climate resilience: Building community resilience to climate-related shocks.

The strategy aligns with Chad’s Vision 2030 and continental initiatives like the African Union’s Agenda 2063, as well as global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16). It emphasizes human capital development, social protection, climate adaptation, and educational improvement as critical pathways to progress.

World Vision Chad has called for collective action, urging public authorities, technical partners, civil society organizations, religious leaders, and media to collaborate closely. The organization stresses that only through unified efforts can current challenges be transformed into sustainable opportunities for Chad’s children.

The strategy aims to contribute directly to the realization of Chad’s Vision 2030 and the SDGs, envisioning a nation where every child is protected, well-nourished, educated, and able to reach their full potential.
