N’Djamena – World Vision Tchad has unveiled its ambitious national strategy for 2026-2030, marking a significant milestone in its mission to uplift the lives of young people across the country. The initiative, launched during a high-profile press conference in the capital, outlines a comprehensive roadmap to directly impact 3.29 million children by 2030, with a special focus on 3.09 million of the most vulnerable youth.
The strategy integrates humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding efforts, reflecting a holistic approach to addressing Chad’s most pressing social challenges. The launch event, held at a prominent N’Djamena hotel, brought together journalists, development partners, and government officials to discuss the road ahead.
Carla Dominique Denizard, Regional Director for World Vision West Africa, described the new strategy as both bold and forward-thinking. She emphasized the organization’s commitment to the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus approach, which bridges emergency response with long-term sustainable growth and conflict resolution. Every child in Chad deserves the opportunity to thrive, she stated, highlighting the importance of strong partnerships, community engagement, and cultural sensitivity in achieving lasting change.
Denizard also underscored the severe challenges facing children in Chad and the broader West and Central Africa region, including persistent insecurity, deep-rooted poverty, climate change impacts, and mass displacement. She noted that World Vision’s vision for the region is clear: to ensure that children not only survive but flourish, even in the most fragile contexts.
The strategy aligns with key continental and global frameworks, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Chad’s Vision 2030. It prioritizes human capital development, social protection, climate resilience, and education—particularly through the Unlock Literacy program, which focuses on early reading skills.
Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, called the strategy launch a historic moment for the organization and the nation’s children. He revealed that the new plan represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles, with a clear goal: to reach 3.29 million children by 2030, including 3.09 million of the most at-risk youth. Our mission is simple yet profound: to ensure every child in Chad not only survives but thrives, he declared.
Ngoy Wangoy also highlighted the harsh realities facing Chad, where nearly 42% of the population lives below the poverty line, compounded by malnutrition, recurring humanitarian crises, and climate-related disasters. He outlined the strategy’s key priorities: integrated nutrition and health programs with a focus on maternal and child health, expanded access to quality education, child protection against violence, and community resilience-building to adapt to climate change.
In closing, World Vision Tchad’s leadership made a powerful call to action, urging national stakeholders—government agencies, technical and financial partners, civil society, religious and community leaders, and the media—to collaborate closely.
