Niamey witnessed the conclusion of a significant diplomatic mission as Algeria’s Prime Minister, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, wrapped up an official visit to Niger. The two-day engagement was marked by high-level meetings, the inauguration of a key energy project, and the strengthening of bilateral ties between the neighboring nations.
Inauguration of the 40 MW Algerian-Nigerien Solidarity Power Plant
Central to the visit was the unveiling of the Algerian-Nigerien Solidarity Power Plant, a 40-megawatt facility generously donated by Algeria to Niger. This strategic infrastructure project underscores the deep-rooted solidarity and cooperation between the two countries, aiming to bolster Niger’s energy sector and support its developmental goals.
The inauguration ceremony was co-chaired by Mr. Sifi Ghrieb and Nigerien Prime Minister, Mr. Ali Lamine Zeine Mahaman, in the presence of key officials and stakeholders. The event highlighted the collaborative spirit and mutual commitment to advancing shared interests.
Following the ceremony, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb was granted an audience with Niger’s President, General Abdourahamane Tiani. During this meeting, he conveyed the warm fraternal greetings of Algeria’s President, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, along with a personal pledge to deepen the bonds of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between the two nations.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations

As the Algerian Prime Minister departed Niamey, he was accorded a warm farewell at the international airport by Niger’s Prime Minister and Algeria’s Ambassador to Niger, Mr. Ahmed Saadi. The gesture reflected the strong ties and mutual respect between the two governments.
