As part of the ongoing oversight for significant national road network modernization initiatives, Georges Alé, the Minister of Living Environment and Transport, conducted an inspection tour last Tuesday, visiting three crucial construction sites. The core objectives of this field visit were to ensure technical excellence, uphold environmental preservation, protect public health, and strictly adhere to contractual timelines.
The ministerial delegation’s initial stop was at the Djonou bridge, situated within the Abomey-Calavi commune. At this location, all dredging operations have been successfully concluded. This vital intervention has effectively cleared the waterway, ensuring efficient stormwater drainage and bolstering the structural integrity of the bridge itself.
Following this, the Minister proceeded to the construction site for the 2×2 lane expansion of the Missessinto-Allada section (RNIE2), a project being executed by the SCET Tunisie / BECI BTP consortium. While acknowledging the commendable progress and positive momentum of the work, Georges Alé underscored the critical importance of scrupulously adhering to the agreed-upon contractual schedule. The goal is to swiftly deliver a modern and secure thoroughfare for road users.
The inspection concluded at the Allada roundabout and the associated retention basins established within the area. Demonstrating keen attention to sanitation concerns, the Minister instructed the technical teams to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Health. This proactive partnership aims to anticipate and prevent any potential health risks that could arise from stagnant water accumulation.
