Spanning an impressive 5,200 m² of covered space, the Mohammed VI Professional Training Center stands as a pivotal institution, delivering specialized vocational education precisely aligned with the demands of Mali’s dynamic employment market. This state-of-the-art facility is set to significantly enhance the nation’s human capital.
Mamary Diarra, the National Director of Tourism, emphasized the exceptional cooperation between the Malian and Moroccan states. He highlighted that this generous gift from His Majesty Mohammed VI serves as a clear testament to the enduring understanding and friendship uniting the two countries. Diarra underscored the center’s vital role, noting its capacity to train young Malians directly in Bamako. He detailed the comprehensive amenities, which include modern classrooms, fully equipped model restaurants, and realistic model hotels, affirming it as a substantial asset for the Malian government.
Once fully operational, this significant infrastructure will be capable of accommodating nearly 1,000 trainees annually. It offers a diverse curriculum across 21 distinct training pathways, with 12 specialized in construction and public works (BTP) and 9 dedicated to the thriving sectors of tourism, hospitality, and catering.
Mamadou Minkoro Traoré, President of the Permanent Assembly of Chambers of Crafts of Mali (APCMM), highlighted the profound importance of establishing such a professional training center within the country. He noted that it now provides the crucial opportunity to train young people locally, eliminating the need for trainees to incur travel and accommodation expenses by going to Morocco for their education. This facility not only ensures high-quality training but also offers significant economic benefits for Malian students.
Mamadou Traoré, a prominent fashion promoter and a high-fashion and styling alumnus of Moroccan institutions, underscored Mali’s pressing demand for skilled human resources in critical development sectors. He praised the timely launch of the center, expressing gratitude to the Moroccan authorities for this invaluable gift to Mali. He believes the center will empower young Malians to acquire valuable trades, offering them a clear path to employment and significantly contributing to the national effort against youth unemployment, diverting them from uncertain ventures.
During the official handover of this facility to Malian authorities last July, Oumou Sall Seck, the Malian Minister of National Entrepreneurship, Employment, and Professional Training, affirmed that this initiative directly addresses a strategic imperative for Mali. She emphasized its role in fostering skill development and bolstering human capital across sectors deemed essential for the nation’s economic and social advancement.
