Cameroon national assembly: essian officially installs new datouo appointees

The Secretary-General of the Cameroon National Assembly, André Noël Essian, has officially overseen the installation of over 20 high-ranking officials recently appointed by President Théodore Datouo.

Following the inauguration of the second ordinary session of the 2026 legislative year, Secretary-General André Noël Essian presided over the formal ceremony to induct more than two dozen key personnel. These individuals were recently designated to their roles by President Théodore Datouo.

These newly appointed senior executives are set to serve within the essential services of both the questure and the general secretariat of the National Assembly. With this ceremony concluded, they are now officially assuming their respective responsibilities within the nation’s legislative body.

Since his election to the presidency of the National Assembly in March, Deputy Théodore Datouo has initiated a series of appointments. However, these decisions have not met with universal approval, with some public opinion criticizing the successor to Cavaye Yeguié Djibril for allegedly failing to uphold regional balance in his selections.
