The trial of Chadian opposition leader Succès Masra commenced today at the Supreme Court under tight security measures, with the defendant notably absent from proceedings.

A robust security presence, including police, gendarmerie, and nomadic guards, was stationed not only near the court but also along key routes leading to the Supreme Court.

Local and international journalists covering the event were promptly requested to leave the area. The head of the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) was denied entry by the nomadic guards commander. Despite Masra’s absence, the legal confrontation between the Supreme Court president and his legal team has already kicked off. The opposition leader is being represented by his attorneys in court.
