Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, the Malagasy head of state, recently undertook a significant visit to N’Djamena, Chad, with a primary focus on bolstering bilateral relations and actively engaging the Malagasy diaspora. A key highlight of his itinerary was a dedicated meeting with approximately twenty Malagasy nationals residing in Chad. Emphasizing their crucial role, the President of the Refoundation asserted, “The diaspora represents a vital asset for Madagascar. Their expertise and contributions must be further recognized and utilized.”
Boosting economic and professional synergy
Beyond the direct interaction with expatriates, the diplomatic mission aimed to invigorate economic and professional exchanges between Madagascar and Chad. Discussions underscored the importance of facilitating the movement of skilled professionals and sharing valuable experiences as fundamental strategies to enhance Madagascar’s influence and presence across the African continent.
Celebrating Chadian independence and intra-African unity
The Colonel’s agenda also featured participation in the 66th-anniversary celebrations of Chad’s independence, held yesterday in N’Djamena. Colonel Michaël Randrianirina attended the festivities at the invitation of Marshal Idriss Mahamat, the President of Chad, alongside General Horta N’Tam, President of Guinea-Bissau. The Malagasy leader characterized this high-level gathering as an invaluable opportunity to “strengthen intra-African cooperation.” He further revealed that the Chadian President expressed a keen interest in visiting Madagascar to engage in further dialogue and pinpoint concrete avenues for collaboration between the two nations.
