On the evening of July 14, 2026, more than 1,500 guests gathered at the French Residence in Rabat to mark French National Day, an event that underscored the deepening partnership between France and Morocco.

The celebration, attended by high-ranking officials including Mohamed Saad Berrada, Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, and Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, provided a platform for dialogue on mutual priorities.

Rebuilding a strategic alliance

Philippe Lalliot, France’s Ambassador to Morocco, took the opportunity to reaffirm the refounded nature of the bilateral relationship. In his address, he described the partnership as balanced, forward-looking, and modernized to meet contemporary challenges. “This is an alliance rooted in shared history yet reinvented for today’s realities,” he emphasized, adding that both nations share a responsibility to nurture this bond.

Highlighting Morocco’s proactive vision for the future, Lalliot noted, “From Rabat to Casablanca, Tanger, Marrakech, and Laâyoune—where I recently inaugurated the first Alliance Française—this nation doesn’t just envision the future; it builds it, every single day.”

A celebration of cultural and diplomatic ties

The event featured performances by the Moroccan Philharmonic Orchestra and DJ Retro Cassetta, blending classical and contemporary influences while honoring the friendship between the two countries.

Among the attendees were diplomats, government officials, and cultural figures, all gathered to witness the strengthening of a relationship described as strategic and enduring.

Looking ahead with shared ambition

Lalliot’s remarks reinforced the idea that the France-Morocco partnership extends beyond diplomacy—it is a living, evolving collaboration. “This friendship is our shared legacy,” he stated. “It is our duty to preserve it, nurture it, and ensure it thrives for generations to come.”
