In Rabat, the French Embassy hosted a grand gathering on July 14 to honor French National Day, drawing over 1,500 attendees. Ambassador Philippe Lalliot seized the moment to highlight the deepening bilateral ties between France and Morocco, emphasizing a forward-looking collaboration.

«From Rabat to Casablanca, Tanger, Marrakech, and Laâyoune—where I recently inaugurated the first Alliance Française—we are not merely discussing the future; we are actively building it, day by day,» Lalliot remarked in the presence of Mohamed Saad Berrada, Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, representing the government.

The ambassador underscored the vast scope of the partnership, referencing President Emmanuel Macron’s July 2024 letter to King Mohammed VI, in which France reaffirmed that the future of the Sahara is tied to Morocco’s sovereignty. «French and Moroccan diplomacy are united in championing the core principles that underpin the international order and multilateral organizations,» he stated.

Lalliot also pointed out France’s role as Morocco’s top foreign investor and employer, with French enterprises playing a pivotal role in the country’s industrial growth for over a decade. Looking ahead, he stressed the importance of «key engagements and shared challenges» in shaping the partnership’s future.

The ambassador outlined three key priorities: «fostering joint solutions to global challenges and reinforcing security; supporting sectors that will drive tomorrow’s economies; and nurturing friendship and mutual understanding, especially among our youth, who represent the future of Franco-Moroccan relations.»

In closing, he praised the «human connection between the French and Moroccan peoples,» which thrives through the dynamism of their diaspora communities.
