By June 20, 2026, the construction of the bridge over the Dja has reached a significant milestone with the near-completion of the structure’s supports. Work is accelerating as teams from China Harbour Engineering Company Cameroun push to finalize this vital infrastructure project.

Beyond the progress on the main supports, technical teams have completed additional geotechnical assessments, while execution studies have now reached the 60% mark. A critical phase was passed with the successful installation of all 20 foundation piles. Currently, the company has shifted focus to the access roads on the Bissombo side. This phase includes reinforcing the walls for the culvert at PK 0+669, laying replacement materials following excavation at PK 0+818, and the crushing of 0/250 aggregates.

The overall project involves the building of a 90-meter-long bridge and 3 kilometers of connecting roads. Once finished, this infrastructure will play a key role in organizing the Assok to Ngombo corridor within the Dja and Lobo department of the South region. The total investment for the bridge over the Dja is valued at 10,530,686,344 FCFA including taxes.

In addition to the bridge itself, the development includes 1,000 meters of immediate access roads (500 meters on each side). These roads will feature a dual-lane carriageway with a total width of 7.00 meters, complemented by 1.50-meter-wide shoulders finished with a double-layer surface dressing. The engineering plan also incorporates significant drainage works, including two 2 x 2.00 x 1.50 culverts and two 2 x 2.00 x 2.00 culverts, alongside the construction of access dikes on the riverbanks.
