Support for Chadian citizens in Libya

The operation, which focused on assisting citizens facing difficulties abroad, was facilitated by the Chadian Consulate General in Benghazi. This program is part of a broader commitment to provide essential aid to Chad‘s diaspora. The IOM played a crucial role in logistical support, ensuring the safe passage of those wishing to return to their home country and reintegrate into their communities.

Raising awareness on migration risks

Alongside the physical return of these individuals, consular services organized specialized information sessions for the Chadian community still residing in Libya. These discussions centered on the legal requirements for foreign residency and the significant dangers associated with irregular migration paths. By educating its citizens, the government aims to reduce vulnerability and encourage adherence to official immigration protocols.

This latest repatriation effort highlights the ongoing cooperation between Chad and international partners to safeguard the welfare of nationals living beyond its borders. Authorities have indicated that similar support missions may be conducted in the future to assist other citizens in need across the region, ensuring that Chadian nationals receive the protection and guidance required while abroad.
