N’Djamena – World Vision Tchad has officially unveiled its ambitious national strategy for 2026-2030 during a high-profile press conference, marking a pivotal moment in the organization’s commitment to transforming the lives of millions of children across the country. The launch event brought together media representatives, technical and financial partners, as well as national authorities to outline a comprehensive roadmap aimed at reaching 3.29 million children by 2030, including 3.09 million from the most vulnerable communities.
An integrated approach to tackle urgent challenges
The strategy hinges on a holistic framework combining humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding efforts. This Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus approach seeks to bridge immediate relief interventions with long-term developmental goals and conflict prevention initiatives. Speaking at the event, Carla Dominique Denizard, West Africa Regional Director for World Vision based in Dakar, described the strategy as ‘bold and innovative,’ emphasizing that every child in Chad deserves the opportunity to thrive—not just survive.
The new strategy aligns with continental and global agendas, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Chad’s Vision 2030. Key focus areas include strengthening human capital, enhancing social protection systems, climate change adaptation, improving literacy through the Unlock Literacy program, and safeguarding children from all forms of violence.
Addressing Chad’s pressing developmental needs
World Vision Tchad’s National Director, Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, highlighted the urgency of the situation, noting that nearly 42% of Chad’s population lives below the poverty line. Chronic challenges such as persistent poverty, malnutrition, recurring humanitarian crises, and the harsh impacts of climate change continue to disproportionately affect children and vulnerable groups. ‘This strategy represents a 20% increase in our ambitions compared to the previous cycle,’ Ngoy Wangoy stated. ‘Our goal is clear: ensure that every child in Chad not only survives but flourishes.’
The 2026-2030 roadmap prioritizes several critical sectors:
- Health and nutrition: Integrated programs targeting maternal and child health, with a focus on reducing malnutrition rates.
- Education: Expansion of the Unlock Literacy initiative to improve early childhood reading skills and access to quality education.
- Child protection: Strengthening systems to shield children from exploitation, violence, and abuse.
