Pope Leo XIV has officially appointed Mgr Andrew Nkea Fuanya to the Section for First Evangelization and New Particular Churches within the Dicastery for Evangelization, a decision warmly greeted by Akere Muna.

Archbishop Andrew Nkea Fuanya has been elevated to a new role by Pope Leo XIV. The prelate will now serve as a member of the Dicastery for Evangelization, specifically within the Section for First Evangelization and New Particular Churches. His mission involves assisting the Holy See in the growth of emerging church communities and providing strategic guidance for global missionary work.

This high-level appointment was praised by Akere Muna, a prominent figure in Cameroon’s civil society. According to the lawyer, this selection is a profound validation of the Archbishop’s pastoral wisdom, his tireless service, and his unwavering loyalty to the Church. He further noted that the appointment serves as a powerful testament to the light the prelate continues to bring to Cameroon, Africa, and the universal Church.

Expressing his confidence in the future, the lawyer remarked that he is certain the Archbishop will carry out this new mission with the same bravery, clarity, and fatherly empathy that have defined his ministry over the years. Mgr Andrew Nkea was appointed Metropolitan Archbishop of Bamenda in 2019 and was elected President of the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon on April 30, 2022. He remains a key negotiator in the ongoing efforts to bring peace to regions facing instability.
