Government unlocks career progression for over 1,100 civil servants
In a decisive move to clear a long-standing administrative bottleneck, the Beninese government has approved the immediate promotion of 1,110 public sector employees who had remained stuck at the 11th grade level. The breakthrough follows an emergency executive session chaired by President Romuald Wadagni, where the Council of Ministers formalized the automatic advancement of eligible civil servants. This cohort, totaling exactly 1,110 individuals, meets the established criteria of seniority and merit as of December 31, 2025.
Ending years of technical and financial delays
The recent unlocking of the 12th grade progression had been stalled due to persistent delays in integrating new career framework rules into the Integrated Human Resources and Payroll Management System (SIGRHP). While legislative reforms had already expanded the career ladder to facilitate smoother transitions, the technical alignment required for automatic advancement had lagged behind. By ratifying this measure, the administration not only safeguards the professional interests of affected employees but also accelerates the modernization of the state’s digital human resources infrastructure.
