The President of Gabon, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, officially inaugurated the new modern annex of the Directorate General for Counter-Intelligence and Military Security (DGCISM), commonly referred to as the « B2 », on August 13, 2026. Located in the Bellevue 1 district of the 3rd arrondissement in Libreville, this state-of-the-art facility represents a significant milestone in enhancing the nation’s intelligence and security infrastructure.
Developed as part of a broader government initiative to equip public administrations with cutting-edge operational tools, the three-story annex spans 900 square meters and is meticulously designed to meet the strictest standards of confidentiality and security.
Strategic redesign for improved operational efficiency
The building’s floor plan is strategically organized to streamline internal workflows. The ground floor houses the Judicial Investigations Directorate, the first level is dedicated to the Military Security Directorate, and the upper floor accommodates the General Directorate’s offices. This layout ensures seamless coordination and reinforces the B2’s role as a central pillar of national security.
A step forward praised by military leadership
During the inauguration ceremony, attended by high-ranking civil and military officials, General Joseph Ondo Be, Director of the DGCISM, expressed deep appreciation for the new facility. Describing it as a « strategic asset », he emphasized how this infrastructure will significantly improve working conditions for intelligence personnel.
While celebrating the achievement, he also outlined future priorities, including the renovation of the main B2 headquarters, the modernization of provincial branches, and the renewal of the agency’s vehicle fleet. These initiatives underscore a long-term vision for strengthening Gabon’s security apparatus.
Renewed commitment to national institutions
A defining moment of the event was the reaffirmation of loyalty by the entire DGCISM staff. Through a solemn oath, the intelligence and military personnel reaffirmed their unwavering dedication to safeguarding the Republic in a challenging political and security environment, where upholding the rule of law remains a top priority.
