Mor Tallah Gueye has officially stepped down from his position as President of the Board of Directors at the Fonds de Développement des Collectivités Urbaines et des Intercommunalités (FDCUIC), aligning himself with a growing number of officials who have distanced themselves from the government in support of opposition leader Ousmane Sonko.
In a statement released today, Mor Tallah Gueye made clear his reasons for resigning: “I resign from my role as President of the Board of Directors at the FDCUIC, reaffirming my unwavering commitment to the values of sovereignty, systemic change, and genuine transformation we envisioned under the Pastef banner.“
He went on to emphasize the core principles that guided his decision: “When the figure embodying this vision, Ousmane Sonko, is no longer part of the executive, while the very system we fought against regains control, I cannot stand idly by as an accomplice to this regression. Our struggle for a fair, sovereign Senegal, rooted in the aspirations of its people, must continue.“
Mor Tallah Gueye concluded by underscoring that true dedication transcends titles and positions: “I leave this role with the conviction that commitment is measured not by a position, but by the fidelity to one’s principles.”
His resignation follows closely on the heels of another prominent departure within the Pastef movement. Earlier this week, the coordinator of the Patriotic Youth of Senegal in Touba resigned from his advisory role at the Presidency, echoing the same spirit of loyalty to Ousmane Sonko. These departures, which run counter to the current trend of alignments with the presidential camp, highlight a widening divide within the Pastef ranks between those who support the President and those who remain steadfast in their allegiance to the former Prime Minister.
