Senegal crisis: President Macky Sall urges restraint after Sonko’s arrest

Following days of escalating violence triggered by the arrest of opposition leader Ousmane Sonko in a morality case, President Macky Sall addressed the nation tonight. The head of state called for calm and warned against ‘confrontational logic,’ while announcing measures to ease the economic strain, including a relaxation of the curfew from midnight to 5 a.m. Justice Minister Malick Sall also engaged in a dialogue with presenter Meriem Amellal on the ongoing tensions.
