The Director of Communication at the Ministry of Defense, in his editorial on Saturday, September 19, 2026 (on the program “Honneur et fidélité”), while addressing the concept of global peace and security, issued a vibrant call for vigilance from all.

Frozen conflicts are re-emerging, ongoing wars persist, and security crises drag on. On nearly every continent, the voice of weapons is heard louder and more frequently. Sometimes in confrontations between regular armies, sometimes in so-called asymmetric operations, or even in homicides by firearms—those other low-intensity but high-lethality wars. To speak only of the latter, shootings cause more than 200,000 deaths each year across the globe.

This globalization of armed violence fosters a palpable sense of permanent insecurity. A feeling that can quickly turn into psychosis, especially in our countries plagued by the misdeeds of an international terrorist network whose capacity for harm grows in scale, despite unanimous condemnations and sanctions.

Nevertheless, bombings, attacks, blockade attempts, and hostage-takings multiply. All this is possible only because terrorists are granted facilities to acquire means of action in land, air, sea, and cyber dimensions. No need to ask by whom and why? Our enemies are maintained by our friends, for our own good.

At the same time, we observe the globalization of other manifestations of insecurity extending to other areas of human activity. This includes industrial espionage, looting of wildlife, plant, and mineral resources, as well as communication routes sabotaged, destroyed, or diverted, not to mention politics, education, and centuries-old cultural customs subject to all kinds of distortions. So many attacks, so much violence against people, institutions, and the environment. And at the pace things are going, no country seems powerful enough not to be a target.

We, Cameroonian citizens, are in the front row to know what is at stake, we who, against our will, must fight hard to survive the multiple aggressions of which our country has become the convergence point.

Our country, which allocates enormous parts of its economic, material, and human potential to both block the consequences of instability on its eastern borders and to stifle transnational projects of obscurantist extremism in its north. And without it being the least of the perils, Cameroon is working to drain another abscess represented by seditious ambitions in its western regions.

In this global environment that has become dangerous, Cameroon is doing its best to prevent, contain, and if necessary, reduce the occurrence and virulence of aggressions targeting it. To date, the results of our efforts are rather satisfactory, although eruptions of violence are still recorded in some parts of the national territory. In this noble struggle, the support of our compatriots for the professional workers of national defense is of inestimable value.

It remains that we must continue to exercise vigilance at every moment, in every point of the national territory and in all domains, to thwart the maneuvers of an adversary from whom we must expect neither respite nor pity.

Let us remain patriots, let us remain vigilant, let us love Cameroon definitively. /-
