In anticipation of the 22nd World Blood Donor Day scheduled for June 14, 2026, the Centre National de Transfusion Sanguine (CNTS) in Lomé is calling for a massive mobilization of citizens. This humanitarian effort aims to bolster local blood reserves and ensure that healthcare facilities have the necessary resources to treat patients.
Under the theme “A drop of humanity. Give blood. Save lives,” a special collection day has been scheduled for Friday, June 12, 2026. Volunteers are invited to participate between 08:00 AM and 04:00 PM to contribute to this vital cause.
Designated collection points in Lomé
To facilitate the process, two specific locations have been set up to welcome donors throughout the day:
- The main offices of the Centre National de Transfusion Sanguine (CNTS) located in Tokoin Doumasséssé, situated directly across from EPP Doumasséssé 1.
- The Collection and Distribution Post (PCD) at Tokoin, which can be found within the CHU Sylvanus Olympio complex, right behind the hemodialysis department.
A call for civic engagement and solidarity
This initiative by the CNTS is a critical step in maintaining adequate blood supplies for the capital’s medical centers. By encouraging a large turnout, the institution reminds the public that a single donation has the potential to save multiple lives. The success of this operation relies heavily on the generosity and commitment of the residents of Lomé and its surrounding areas.
“We are all united by the gift of life,” the Centre National de Transfusion Sanguine stated, emphasizing that every volunteer’s contribution is a significant act of solidarity. The CNTS expresses its gratitude in advance to all those who will step forward on June 12 to support patients in urgent need of transfusions.
